AAECE is a resource to the Family Child Care community and city at large, providing support services and assistance, referrals, and a wealth of knowledge and guidance for best practice insights for all who provide care to African American children in San Francisco.
We strive to reduce the achievement gap; to ensure that each child has access to quality education and equitable resources. Every child will have equitable access to high quality education creating the opportunity for academic success.
There is increasing recognition in policy, research, and clinical practice communities that early and middle childhood provide the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional foundation for lifelong health, learning, and well-being. Early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence represent the 3 stages of child development. Each stage is organized around the primary tasks of development for that period.
Kindergartener kits were created by AAECE to provide a connection to our 5 year olds that are transitioning from pre-K and child care educators into mainstream educational system. This is a way to connect and follow our scholars and make them feel seen and heard. The contains educational supports for our youngest African American scholars.
